Ripley RASCALS

On July 4^th, 7 Buxton Swimmers went to Ripley to compete in the Ripley RASCALS Open Meet, they came home with a record 25 trophies, medals and speeding tickets!! They all had an excellent meet with loads of personal best times and fantastic swims!

In the 10-year-old age group was Freya Needham and Helen Thornhill. Freya had a fantastic meet coming 2^nd in the 200m individual medley, 3^rd in the 50m backstroke and 6^th in the 50m butterfly. Helen also had a great meet with several personal best times, and winning the 200m individual medley and the 200m freestyle, whilst also coming 3^rd in the 50m freestyle, 4^th in the 50m butterfly and 5^th in the 50m breastroke.

In the 11-year-old age group was Sophie Byrne. Sophie’s best swims came in the 200m freestyle were she came 3^rd with a massive 12 second personal best! She also came 3^rd in the 100m breastroke with another great personal best of 6 seconds. Sophie also came 4^th in the 200m individual medley, 5^th in the 100m Freestyle and 9^th in the 100m backstroke.

Also in the 11-year-old age group was Buxton’s only boy, Rhys Bowen who has shown great potential through-out the season and came back with some fantastic results! Rhys won the 200m freestyle, 100m breastroke and the 100m backstroke with a 4 second personal best time! Rhys also came 2^nd in the 200m individual medley and 3^rd in the 100m freestyle.

The only 12-year-old, Lily Howard had an excellent swim in the 100m butterfly, coming 2^nd! Also, Lily came 7^th in the 100m backstroke and breastroke and 9^th in the 100m freestyle.

In the 13-year-old age group was Kara Cocker and Emma Longden. Kara came 3^rd in both the 100m butterfly and freestyle, 4^th in the 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke - a

4 second personal best and the 200m individual medley with a massive 13 second personal best!! She also came 5^th in the 100m breastroke. Emma, competing in only one event, the 100m backstroke, exceeded the cut-off time by over 2 seconds and received a speeding ticket with a 6 second personal best.
