FAQ's

Can swimmers still compete for Buxton Swimming Club when the pool is closed?

Yes of course you can still swim for Buxton Swimming Club when the pool is closed for refurbishment. In fact we would be dissapointed if you didn't. You will still be a fully registered member of the club until next year when we re submit all swimmers details to the ASA. Please remember though to keep up your swimming if you can't follow us to our temporary pools, otherwise your times will be slower

Will training times be different at the temporary pool?

There will be some differences when we change pool. This is because the pool is only a 4 lane pool, instead of the larger 6 lane pool at Buxton. Thanks to those of you who returned forms stating if you can still train at our new venue. This has allowed us to see how many swimmers from each group will be swimming and allowed Di to look closer at the times that all swimmers can be accomodated. For more information come to our information evening.

Will subscriptions be reduced whilst at St Anselms?

Unfortunately not. It is anticipated due to reduced membership there will be a small financial loss to the club during this period, however the committee are working hard on different fundraising ideas and events to cover the shortfall. If anyone has any ideas or would be able to organise fundraising events please contact the committee.

Does my child need to be able to swim to join Buxton Swimming Club?

Buxton Swimming Club caters for all levels of swimmers including non - swimmers. We use the small pool for complete beginners and for those able to swim a little bit we offer width swimming. Your child will be coached by a team of very experienced teachers/coaches and will soon progress to a more advanced level of swimming.

I attend the University of Derby, can i join the club?

We welcome all swimmers of all abilities at Buxton Swimming Club, from all sources. Just come down to Buxton Pool on a Tuesday and let the Help desk people know you want to join or have a look at the facilities and we will sort out the rest for you. We look forward to seeing you

My Child has a disability, can they still swim?

As with the previous answer, Buxton Swimming Club welcomes swimmers of all abilities. Our Head Coach David Peet is qualified in disability coaching.

Both Buxton Pool and St Anselms have disbled access to changing facilities and Buxton Pool has access into the pool for disabled swimmers.

We will need details on our medical form but that will be accessed by coaching staff only.

If you wish to come and have a try out with us you will be more than welcome, just use the "Contact Us" section on this website to let us know you will be coming
